Selia Weather

Privacy policy

Updated 2 November 2026

This policy covers the official Android app and these project pages. The developer and privacy contact is Matěj Teplý, publishing as Majkey25. Email: majkeylab@gmail.com.

Selia Weather, package com.majkeylab.weatheraladin, does not require an app account. The current release is free, has no advertising or in-app purchases, and does not request an advertising identifier. The developer does not sell personal data or run a separate app analytics service. Test-only builds can include development integrations.

Data on your device

The app stores the last selected place, favourite places, the last successful forecast, language preference, and widget settings in internal app storage. A history archive is cached for up to 12 selected coordinates and refreshed at most once per 24 hours. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app deletes it. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for this data.

Ask AI with CSV first displays a confirmation describing the location, coordinates and archive size. After you confirm, Android's system share sheet lets you choose an installed recipient that accepts CSV sharing. The app does not assign a trusted AI brand to package names or app labels, authenticate the chosen recipient's publisher, or upload a list of installed apps. A separate CSV file in the private cache contains the full available five-year archive, selected location name and coordinates, daily weather estimates, data-source version and access time. Your question and selected-period context accompany it; selecting a shorter period does not shorten the attachment. Only your chosen recipient receives temporary read access to that file. Check the attachment and question in that app before sending; receivers may handle attachments differently. Cancel either step to stop sharing. Later exports do not overwrite earlier files. On a new export, the app keeps at most 12 exports and removes files older than seven days. Android may clear cache sooner.

A custom widget image remains in its original location. The app stores only its Android content URI and reads a bounded copy when it renders the widget. Removing the widget removes its settings and releases its retained image permission when no other widget uses the URI.

Location

Location permissions are optional. Fixed place uses a city, saved place or map point; Use my location selects a place once. Optional Follow current location refreshes the device position for forecasts, widgets, local weather alerts and morning briefings, including while the app is closed or not in use. It requires a separate disclosure and Android background location permission for checks with the app closed. Approximate location is supported. Android's system Geocoder may receive coordinates to name the place. The app keeps only the latest selected fix and its verification time on the device, not a movement history. Choosing a fixed place or revoking permission stops following. If a fresh permitted fix cannot be obtained, follow-mode notifications for the old place are withheld. Android can delay checks, so continuous tracking and immediate delivery are not promised.

Network communication

All app network communication uses HTTPS. The app does not send contacts, messages, photos, audio, or the contents of a selected widget image. A weather-history CSV leaves the app only after you confirm sharing and choose an AI app or a recipient in Android's share sheet. That recipient processes the file under its own terms.

Retention, deletion and choices

There is no Selia Weather account to delete. To remove all local saved places, settings, cached forecasts and archive files, open Android Settings > Apps > Selia Weather > Storage > Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Android may display the launcher name Weather. Menu labels vary by device. Files already copied to another app, provider logs and support correspondence are separate; use the provider's controls or contact support for information held by the developer.

The developer does not operate a server that stores app data. Data on your device remains until the cache replaces it, you clear app data, or you uninstall the app. You can remove location permission in Android settings. You can remove image access by deleting the widget, changing its image, or managing the selected document in Android. Open-Meteo, GitHub, NASA POWER, ČHMÚ, ČÚZK, ECCC, DWD, NWS, AviationWeather, OpenFreeMap, OpenStreetMap, RainViewer, Buy Me a Coffee, and a share-sheet recipient process data under their own terms when you contact their services.

Notification preferences and bounded delivery fingerprints stay on your device. Background alerts and morning briefings require a separate in-app choice before location coordinates are used for background requests. Dismissing or declining it leaves them off. You can change this in Notifications. Selecting Follow current location does not automatically enable disabled notification categories. Android notification permission separately controls delivery; background location permission additionally controls closed-app location updates in follow mode. Widgets you explicitly add refresh separately. Each alert category can be disabled in the app or independently in Android settings. Android may delay checks.

Some providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Their policies describe their own practices and safeguards. The developer cannot remotely delete a provider's logs or an AI recipient's copy. Declining future sharing does not retrieve previously shared data.

Purposes, support and privacy rights

Data is used to supply the weather, widget, history and export functions you request. Optional device access and sharing remain under your control. If you email support, your address, message and attachments are processed to answer and resolve your request; they are not used to enrol you in marketing. Keep unrelated personal information out of support messages and public GitHub issues.

Where GDPR applies, the bases for the developer's processing are providing the service you request (Article 6(1)(b)), your consent for the optional disclosure through the sharing flow (Article 6(1)(a)), and legitimate interests in responding to support and protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f)). Handling statutory requests or record-keeping duties may rely on a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Support correspondence is kept while needed to resolve the request or an associated dispute, or to meet a legal duty. These bases do not replace a provider's own privacy obligations.

Where GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability where applicable, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Consent may be withdrawn for future processing without invalidating earlier lawful processing. Email majkeylab@gmail.com to exercise these rights. Requests are generally due a response within one month, subject to lawful exceptions described by the Czech Data Protection Authority.

You can complain to your local supervisory authority, including the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů in Czechia. The developer has no remote access to your device-only archive. Weather calculations do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
