These terms apply to the public ScanIt Android app and this ScanIt website. By installing or using ScanIt, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Permitted use

You may download, install, and use an unmodified official ScanIt binary for any lawful purpose, subject to the ScanIt Source-Visible Proprietary License.

The public repository is available for inspection but is not open source. No permission to copy, modify, build, distribute, sublicense, sell, or create derivative works is granted except by the license accompanying the specific copy, written permission, or applicable law. Historical copies already released under MIT keep their original MIT rights.

Your documents and responsibilities

You retain responsibility for documents you scan, import, save, share, or print. Use ScanIt only with content you are allowed to process. Check every page, crop, filter, filename, destination, and attachment before relying on or sending it.

ScanIt is a convenience tool. It does not verify document authenticity, identity, accuracy, delivery, legal sufficiency, regulatory compliance, or acceptance by a recipient. Keep the original document when accuracy or evidentiary value matters.

Storage and external services

Recent scans are temporary working copies and may be cleared by Android. You are responsible for confirming that needed PDFs or images were saved and for maintaining backups.

The scanner depends on Google Play services and ML Kit. Sharing and printing depend on apps and services you choose. GitHub hosts this website and repository. These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies; availability and behavior may change independently of ScanIt.

Availability and changes

ScanIt may be changed, suspended, or discontinued. Compatibility with every device, Android version, mail app, file provider, printer, or document is not guaranteed. Release notes and the version installed on your device determine the available features.

No warranty

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCANIT AND THIS WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, OR DATA PRESERVATION.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER AND MAINTAINER ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, DOCUMENTS, REVENUE, PROFITS, OR OPPORTUNITY ARISING FROM SCANIT OR THIS WEBSITE. RIGHTS THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED REMAIN UNAFFECTED.
